That festival feel...

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of working with the stunning miss Cassandra Green and MUA Chelsea Marks to create a spring/summer festival lookbook with some awesome pieces from City Beach Australia and Mink Pink.

From Woodford to Future Music Festival (and any beach trips in between), these guys have got you sorted.

Cass wears the Tidal Wave Dress by Mink Pink. Shop the look.

Cass wears the Daiquiri Dress in Peach by Mink Pink. Shop the look.

Cass wears the Slasher Flick Short by Mink Pink, paired with the Ocean Girl crop by Mink Pink. Shop the shorts. Shop the crop.

Cass wears the Rainbow Temple Tank with Slasher Flick Shorts. Shop the tank.

Cass wears the Summer Frost Top with Beach Side Shorts by Mink Pink. Shop the top. Shop the shorts.

The Beach Side Shorts are really versatile as they are a high-waisted style, they can be dressed up for going shopping with a loose top or dressed for fun with a crop; perfect for festival season. They also have lace detailing on the pockets at the front and back.

Our favourite festival crop shot during the lookbook is the Get Mine Crop by Loving Things. Keep an eye out for this hot crop - it comes in five different colours and is definitely at the top of my summer shopping list once it hits the store!

Another favourite piece from the shoot were the ever-popular Neon Aztec shorts by Mink Pink. These super comfy elastic waisted shorts also looked a treat with the Get Mine Crop. Shop the shorts.

We wrapped the shoot with the fun Skater Halter by Ava & Ever matched with the Beach Side Shorts by Mink Pink. Mooloola also stocks a halter dress in similar fabric in some fun shades! Shop the crop. Suss the dress.

So basically, this spring/summer, (as usual) the brighter the better! Shop the rest of City Beach's website for some other hot festival items here.

An Offbeat Sweethart...

As some of you may know, Claire Nada (blogger/model genius behind Fashion's Sweethart) and I have collaborated a few times with a few different designers/labels/MUAs.

My favourite collaboration with Fashion's Sweethart to date, has to have been our most recent lookbook shoot for House of Cards. With a slick rockabilly quiff hairstyle created by myself and flawless makeup by A La Lumiere Makeup & Beauty / Danielle Riley we explored the idea of an alien lost in translation outside the stark facade of the Brisbane Powerhouse.

House of Cards are about to open up a permanent residency in Winn Lane - Fortitude Valley. It's great to see this label expand as we have lately seen some Australian greats cease production, labels like House of Cards have begun to flourish.

Claire has been an infallible contact to date, and a Sweethart to boot. Without the help of bloggers like her, and my branding wizard Maryanne Jauch (responsible for designing my business card, logo and banners) the re-branding process that has been undertaken over the past few months would have been a struggle.

In the creative industry in Brisbane it is of utmost importance that you network your little heart out and create useful contacts that can introduce you to other useful contacts. In the process, it's also a great way to make friends and discover new brands!

Please enjoy a selection of images from our photoshoot and don't forget to follow @offbeatimaging on Instagram and "like" us on Facebook.

Enjoy what's left of the weekend!

Bean to the rescue...

It's Thursday, it's been a bullshit week at work and I've got to physically force myself to leave the office to pick up garments for a shoot this weekend, or I'll drown in Contracts.

Scorn, a headache and hunger pangs are setting in. Walking along George Street (toward the gardens) and stumble across a sign. "Down the alleyway - Bean."

I'd heard about it's stellar brews and seeing as today was so shit I'd already succumbed to a coffee, I decided something warm to quell my rage was definitely necessary.

Walking down the alleyway there are stickers, drawings, paintings, tiles, posters and assorted graffiti. Music seems to be playing from the wall which guides you down and around the corner to the front door. Down the stairs, a safe haven awaits.

A charming barista asks me how my day is going and tells me a little fun fact about my order (Marsala chai tea) and how the leaves are directly sourced from India. I tell him about how stumbling down the alleyway and seeing some of the local graff artists is an instant morale booster - the likes of Barek, Forkism, Minou Art and others.

I take my travel cup up and outside to continue my day and stop at an Astro Turf outdoor setting with more artwork adorning the bricks.

My favourite of the works being a magazine clipping of a piglet with the text "Bacon healer of all wounds". Someone has responded to re scrawl with their own, saying "don't heal your wounds with other beings wounds".

This little trip to bean made my day slow down to a pleasant halt, and despite the fact I was now being rained upon while I continued my journey down George Street, I had a warm cup of happy in my hand and the rage was quelled.

Bean is located on 181 George Street and I highly recommend you check it out. They might just save your day, too!

The hype begins...

It's one week out from heading down to Melbourne and I could not be more excited to escape the stress of my office.

So much so, that tonight when I got home, after calling my girlfriend Anna to get a run down of our itinerary (yes, she's that amazingly organised), one hour and one super styling session later, I'm pretty much packed.

Well okay, not physically packed but the styling was done (complete with the assistance of my Dad's rolley rack which I borrowed temporarily to get an idea of textures and cohesion of the styling in general).

The looks I've created for this trip roam between clean cut (think monochrome) and edgy (think prints, chains and leather).

Some of the brands I've chosen to bring along for this adventure include Sass & Bide, Cameo, Maurie & Eve, Tsubi, Colette, Sportsgirl, Senso and an assortment of department store/boutique finds.

I will be bringing my beloved Canon 400D down with me, as it has been hiding in the shadows since the 5D Mark II came into my life at the beginning of this year, to capture all the cool and quirky places we are taken to.

Keep an eye on Instagram too, for daily flatlays of outfits! Here's a teaser:

By the bayside with Baby Bare Bones...

Back in October, I had the pleasure of working with the lovely Miss Alicia, as part of her entry as Baby Bare Bones in Miss Pinup Australia 2014. We headed to Wynnum and with my darling fawn pug Mops in toe; the windy Sunday afternoon became our playground.

Alicia wore frocks by Kitten D'Amour, at one point donned a giant green polka-dotted bow by Lavender Latte and let ice cream drip a sticky mess all over her hands in the hopes of getting the best shot. Mops also copped a fair bit of ice cream drip in the process but she didn't mind at all (although she probably would have preferred banana flavored ice cream).

Props used during the shoot included a vintage Box Brownie camera, ukelele and her beloved's fixie. Mops played a the role of pug-turned-model purrfectly, and was so patient as we wandered around Wynnum; she made a few furry friends, too.

Wishing Alicia all the best in the competition - she's entered into the Neo category and sure to wow the judges.
